CompoundWise
The agreement

Terms of Service

Short, and written to be read. If something here is unclear, ask before you agree to it.

The one that matters most. CompoundWise is a research and bookkeeping tool that produces rules-based signals: ADD, TRIM, SELL and HOLD on the holdings you enter, some with a suggested number of shares (for example, “trim about 15 shares”); scores, labels and suggested position-size bands for companies; and an AI advisor that explains and prioritises those signals and answers questions about your own numbers. Every signal is computed from your own inputs and the product’s published rules. It is general information, not personalized advice from a registered adviser. CompoundWise is not a registered investment dealer, adviser, or portfolio manager with any securities regulator, it does not hold your money or your securities, and it cannot place trades. You make, and own, every decision you take with it.

1. What you are agreeing to

By creating an account you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account. You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and you must give accurate information when you sign up.

2. What CompoundWise does

It tracks a portfolio you enter or import, scores holdings against published methodologies, models tax outcomes under Canadian rules, and generates written reports — some of which are produced by a large language model. It runs your holdings through a fixed set of published rules that produce ADD, TRIM, SELL and HOLD signals, some with a suggested share count, and an AI advisor explains and prioritises those signals in plain English. The rules, the scores and their limits are written down in the published methodology, including what has not been tested: the Deep Score’s labels have not yet been tested against later returns. It is a tool for organising your own thinking.

3. What it does not do

Speak to a licensed adviser or accountant before acting on anything you read here, particularly anything tax-related. Tax rules change, and CompoundWise's model of them can lag or be wrong.

4. Your account

Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell me promptly if you think someone else has access. You may delete your account at any time from the iPhone or Android app (Settings → Delete Account); on the web, ask in the help chat and it will be done for you. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what deletion does and does not remove.

CompoundWise is currently invite-only. Access may be suspended or withdrawn, including for abuse, for attempts to disrupt or reverse-engineer the service, or simply because the private beta ends.

5. Accuracy, and the honest warning

This is beta software built and run by one person. It can be wrong, it can go down, and it can lose data. Market data comes from third parties and may be delayed, stale, or incorrect. AI-generated text can be confidently mistaken. Check anything before you act on it, and keep your own records.

The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. To the same extent, I am not liable for any loss — investment losses, lost profits, lost data, or tax consequences — arising from your use of it. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply only as far as permitted.

6. Your content

Your portfolio data stays yours. You grant only the permission needed to run the service for you: to store it, process it, and pass the necessary parts to the third parties listed in the Privacy Policy. It is never sold.

7. Changes

These terms may change. Material changes will be shown in the app and you will be asked to accept the new version — your acceptance is recorded with its version and date.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
